Fans of the science fiction series Firefly are in for a treat in an upcoming episode of Castle, with Summer Glau (River Tam in Firefly) who makes an appearance in the 14th episode of Castle as a competitor private detective for Richard Castle.
Glau will play Kendall Frost, a provocative private detective in Los Angeles who who competes with — you guessed it — Castle to solve a deadly mystery. She will appear in this season’s 14th episode.
Fillion recently re-teamed with Glau in an episode of fellow Firefly alum Alan Tudyk’s meta-cheeky web series Con Man . The actress is hardly the first Firefly vet to visit Fillion’s current stomping ground. Adam Baldwin and Gina Torres have also popped up on the show, with the former appearing for the second time this past fall.

In other guest star news on Castle, it has been said that Gerald McRaney from Simon & Simon, will appear in episodes to come.
McRaney is set to appear in multiple episodes as Mason Wood, the head of a legendary and secretive private detective society. It’s not clear how McRaney’s mysterious character figures into the ABC drama’s larger mythology (if at all), but he’ll first turn up in this season’s 14th episode — the Los Angeles-set outing that will also feature guest star Summer Glau.McRaney recently co-starred in TNT’s short-lived Sharon Stone drama Agent X.–Source TVLine
